Our booking, cancellation, and terms policies

Course Booking Policy

Terms & Conditions — Please read carefully before booking

1. Before You Book

Before completing your booking, please ensure that you have carefully reviewed all course details, including:

  • The course date and time — please check your diary thoroughly to confirm you are fully available for the entire duration of the course before booking.
  • The course start time, finish time, and location (Horbury, Wakefield, Yorkshire).
  • The course content, skill level requirements, and any stated prerequisites.
  • The full course duration — in-person masterclasses are full-day sessions (9:30am – 5:30pm) unless otherwise stated.

By proceeding with a booking you confirm that you have read and understood all of the above information and agree to these Terms & Conditions in full.

2. Booking & Deposit

  • All course bookings require a non-refundable deposit to secure your place.
  • A deposit is required at the time of booking to confirm your place on the course.
  • The deposit amount will be clearly stated on the course listing or communicated to you prior to booking.
  • Your place on the course is not guaranteed until the deposit has been received and confirmed.
  • The remaining balance (where applicable) must be paid in full by the date stated at the time of booking, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Failure to pay the remaining balance by the due date may result in the loss of your place and forfeiture of the deposit.

⚠ IMPORTANT:

Your deposit is strictly non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances, including personal circumstances, illness, or change of plans. Please only book when you are certain you can attend.

3. Non-Refundable Policy

  • All deposits and payments made to Black Diamond Academy are non-refundable.
  • Deposits are non-refundable regardless of the reason for cancellation, including but not limited to personal circumstances, illness, work commitments, or change of plans.
  • Full payments for self-paced online courses are non-refundable once access to the course materials has been granted.
  • In the event that Black Diamond Academy must cancel or reschedule a course, students will be offered a transfer to an alternative date or a full refund of monies paid.

4. Non-Transferable Policy

  • Bookings and deposits are strictly non-transferable.
  • Your booking cannot be transferred to another person.
  • Your booking cannot be transferred to a different course or a different course date without prior written agreement from Black Diamond Academy.
  • Transfer requests will be considered at the sole discretion of Black Diamond Academy and may be subject to an administration fee.

5. Student Responsibilities

Students are responsible for the following unless otherwise stated in the course listing:

  • Supplying all products, tools, and equipment required for the course. A full materials list will be provided in advance.
  • Arriving on time. Late arrivals may result in missed content for which Black Diamond Academy accepts no responsibility.
  • Behaving in a professional and respectful manner toward the educator and fellow students.
  • Ensuring they meet any stated course prerequisites before booking.

6. Self-Paced Online Courses

  • Access to self-paced online courses is granted upon receipt of full payment.
  • Online course access is provided for 12 months from the date of purchase unless otherwise stated.
  • Access is for the named purchaser only and may not be shared, resold, or transferred.
  • Due to the digital nature of online course content, all sales are final once access has been granted.

7. Photography & Social Media

  • Black Diamond Academy may photograph or video work produced during in-person masterclasses for promotional or educational purposes.
  • If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please inform the educator at the start of the session.
  • Students are welcome to photograph their own work and share it on social media; we kindly ask that you tag @blackdiamondacademy_yorkshire.

8. Limitation of Liability

  • Black Diamond Academy accepts no liability for loss, damage, or injury arising from the use of materials or techniques demonstrated during any course.
  • Students are responsible for ensuring that any products and tools they bring to in-person sessions are used safely and appropriately.
  • Black Diamond Academy reserves the right to ask any student to leave a session if their conduct is deemed inappropriate, without refund.

9. Amendments to These Terms

Black Diamond Academy reserves the right to update or amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. The most current version will apply to all new bookings made from the date of amendment. Continued use of our booking services constitutes acceptance of any updated terms.


Cancellation Policy

Please read carefully before booking — cancellations are subject to the terms below

At Black Diamond Academy, we invest significant time and resources into preparing for every course. The following Cancellation Policy applies to all bookings — in-person masterclasses and online courses — and forms part of our full Terms and Conditions.

⚠ Please note:

All deposits are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable. By paying your deposit you acknowledge and accept this policy in full.

1. Cancellation by the Student

If you need to cancel your place on a course, the following terms apply:

  • All cancellations must be made in writing by email or direct message to Black Diamond Academy. Verbal notice is not accepted.
  • A minimum of 7 days' notice is required prior to the course start date for any cancellation request to be considered.
  • Cancellations made with 7 or more days' notice: your deposit will be forfeited; any remaining balance paid beyond the deposit will be refunded.
  • Cancellations made with fewer than 7 days' notice: the full course fee is non-refundable. No refund will be issued for any amount paid.
  • Non-attendance on the day without prior notice (no-show) will be treated as a late cancellation — no refund of any monies paid will be made.

★ The 7-day notice period is the minimum required.

We strongly encourage you to contact us as early as possible if you foresee any difficulty attending, so that we may try to accommodate your situation wherever possible.

2. Deposit — Non-Refundable & Non-Transferable

Please be aware of the following important conditions regarding your deposit:

  • Your deposit is non-refundable under all circumstances, including illness, personal emergencies, work commitments, or change of plans.
  • Your deposit is non-transferable — it cannot be moved to a different course date, a different course, or a different person.
  • Exceptions will not be made to this rule regardless of the circumstances. We strongly advise that you take out appropriate personal insurance if you are concerned about unforeseen events.

3. Rescheduling Requests

  • Requests to reschedule your place to a future course date must be made in writing with a minimum of 7 days' notice.
  • Rescheduling is subject to availability and is at the sole discretion of Black Diamond Academy.
  • Black Diamond Academy does not guarantee that an alternative date will be available.
  • Where rescheduling is agreed, your deposit will not be transferred — a new deposit will be required to secure the new date.
  • Rescheduling requests made with fewer than 7 days' notice will not be accepted.

4. Cancellation by Black Diamond Academy

  • Black Diamond Academy reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a course in exceptional circumstances, such as instructor illness, insufficient enrolments, or circumstances beyond our control.
  • In the event of cancellation by Black Diamond Academy, students will be offered either a transfer to the next available course date or a full refund of all monies paid.
  • Black Diamond Academy accepts no responsibility for any costs incurred by students as a result of a course cancellation, including but not limited to travel, accommodation, or products purchased.

5. Online & Self-Paced Courses

  • Self-paced online courses are non-refundable once access to course materials has been granted.
  • If you experience a technical issue preventing access, please contact Black Diamond Academy and we will do our best to assist.
  • Cancellation of an online course booking before access is granted will result in forfeiture of the full payment, as course materials are prepared and allocated upon booking.

6. How to Cancel

To notify Black Diamond Academy of a cancellation, please contact us via:

Please include your name, course date, and the reason for cancellation in your message. Cancellations are only valid once you have received written confirmation from Black Diamond Academy.
